MRL Capital Trust is an investment program that has been structured using the accounting firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the internationally recognized law firm of Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP. (Recent Gowlins Rankings)  The use of these two highly recognizable firms has provided the depth and resources necessary to ensure the structure of MRL Capital Trust complies with all regulatory authorities such as Canada Revenue Agency and the Canadian and Alberta Security Regulators. 




The Trustees have established real estate market contacts and associations with financial and real estate brokerages and agents throughout Canada and the United States.  This front line real estate based network affords direct access to the current and continuing investment opportunities within the real estate markets throughout Canada and the United States.

The opportunity funds invested into MRL Capital Trust will collectively provide a front line investment into the various real estate opportunities that are presented. The Canadian real estate market is  experiencing some challenges due to the leveraged investments that have occurred over the last few years.  The subprime issues in the United States also provide many exceptional investment opportunities in that market.  It is understood and clear that thorough attentiveness and determination is crucial in its entirety to ensure investment success in this market.

The economic climate provides many "opportunities" in real estate at this time.

Within this investment program, there are three real estate markets in Canada and the United States that are proposed opportunity target areas:

  • First, the traditional residential market with direct access to the lenders on REO (bank owned) properties.  Dealing directly with the lenders will provide significant reduction in the acquisition price based on today’s market value.  These properties will then be re-sold to the public at market prices.

  • Secondly, raw land for future development purposes.  These sites will be acquired and sold to developers for syndication.

  • Thirdly, the commercial market is currently in a market slump, due to the sub-prime issues properties will be acquired at discounted prices.  These office buildings, shopping centers, mixed-use commercial/residential projects will be re-sold to investors as cash flow projects and syndication.
